A while back, when The Superfluously Worthy Auspicious Order of the Peat was formed, there was talk of using a microphone to record order meetings. A test microphone was purchased, and subsequently returned, but at least one meeting was recorded, at the beginning of the summer. I finally got around to editing that audio, and until the SWAOP website begins in earnest (hopefully soon), I’m going to post the audio here. The microphone we used wasn’t very good, as there was no way to turn up the gain, and since then I’ve worked out what I hope will be a much better solution. At one point in the audio someone was fiddling with something on the table that the mic was sitting on, and so of course that gets picked up quite well, which bugged the hell out of me. I’ve got a boom stand now though so that’ll be remedied in the future too. The catchy little ditty up front is something I put together and I thought it was kind of neat so I’m using it for theme music.

At the risk of becoming a video blog, here’s some video I recorded from the show at Duffy’s last night. The opening band was Amy Ana Huffman and the People’s Family Band. I’d never seen them before, but they were quite good. Here’s a video of them, uploaded to Viddler because I used up my Vimeo upload quota for the week.

Good stuff there. Then Weezil Skweezins took the stage. They are definitely a fun show. And once you hear “Up the Butt”, it will get stuck in your head for two days. I should mention, there’s some NSFW language, but you probably figured that out from the title.

Weezil Skweezins – Up Your Butt from Joshua on Vimeo.

There are a few more videos up over at my Vimeo. It was a fun show, and I drank nasty bar scotch. Good times.

Oh, and I should mention, I followed DB‘s lead in incorporating video comments. (DB hat-tips me in that post, and now I’m hat-tipping directly back to him. It’s a blogging reacharound.) Iffin you have a webcam, and a Viddler account, you can record video comments directly in the browser window. It’s pretty keen. Thanks, Colin Devroe!

Well, technically, we made a film. John (one of the ones I know, anyways) was checking out my The Flip (about two posts down) and we were discussing editing software, and how I should learn to actually use some. So he took my The Flip, filmed some various shots, and challenged me to edit them into a film with a story.

I’m not sure if he intended for me to make a film about him being a French male prostitute. But c’est la vie.

L’Homme Prostitut from Joshua on Vimeo.

He did the shooting, I did the editing, J.G. Thirwell did the first half of the music and I did the second. I also did the French translations myself, without a dictionary or much working knowledge of the French language. It’s pretty good.
