Save Me Obi Ken Schimekobi, You’re My Only Hope!
Posted on June 4, 2008Tornado sirens went off about half an hour ago. I was a bit confused because, outside of the twice weekly tests of the civil defense system. Because basically there’s not much threat of an air raid these days. Here’s a map of what’s happening right at this moment, I live right at the point of the blue arrow:

About 45 minutes ago, being as there was an apparent immediate threat of tornado, I naturally went outside with the camera, so as to show others exactly what this storm looked like. Here’s the first picture, facing south Lincoln:

I live right near

You can even see the reflection of the southern sunlight in the building’s glassy fascia. Pretty keen, huh? The joys of living in the Great Plains.

i was literally “soaping up” when the sirens went off. i wasn’t sure what was happening because i got in the shower while things were pretty calm outside. i barely got the soap off of me, didn’t bother toweling off; just wrapped the towel around me, grabbed the cats and threw them in the closet and also headed outside on my belcony. no winds, no rain, but directly above me were green, swirling skies… it looked like a green whirlpool of cotton candy slowly swirling in about a 1/8 mile radius. i thought a portal to heaven was opening up. nope. oh, and im SO lucky to have that amazing siren right in my parking lot next to my bedroom window … no chance of me sleeping through it.
on a completely unrelated note. my friend loves her engagement photos! thanks again for letting me use her camera … she’s gonna send you a thank you card in the mail at some point.
another unrelated note. love the new site layout.
yet another… i need to stop out and have some more drinks at the greens. c-ya there some time, or down at JTK — maybe Joanna and I will stop in at JTK and keep you company, Mr. Bartender.
A buddy of mine was fishing at Pawnee Lake when a wall cloud just appeared. He was running from his car when he got hit with a 70 mph wind. He was pretty dang lucky to make it to safety.
I’m at JTK Monday nights now, the night we have our awesome date night special. Stop on by.
