I’m Weak
Posted on June 30, 2007So yeah. The iPhone came out yesterday. It’s like a bible story. The temptation to get one is so strong. Since I’m saving up for the MacBook Pro, I have more than enough money in the bank for an iPhone. My AT&T contract is ready for renewal (and therefore eligible for new phone purchase). My RAZR is a big steaming pile of shit. Fourth one in two years. Two of them the screens died. On one of them the processor died. And my current one is showing chip problems as well. Whoo. Other people I internet-know all got one.
So I went to the local AT&T store. Just to look around. With my checkbook.
But alas… They didn’t have any. They are “direct-fulfilling orders”, i.e., I place an order with them, they order it from Apple, and in two to four weeks I get an iPhone. So screw that. I’ll continue saving for a MacBook Pro instead. Though I fear, I may have to suffer the music from the iPhone ads being stuck in my head until I actually do get one… Until then, here is my current iPhone:

Things DB Has to Do While in Europe
Posted on June 15, 2007DB is going to Europe for MINI United 2007 with the rest of the White Roof Radio gang in a few days, and so I thought I’d help him out by giving him a list of things to do while he’s out of the colonies:
- Call every British person he meets “gringo”.
- Party with showgirls in Monte Carlo.
- Get thrown in to a Turkish prison with Todd.
- Steal a robot from the MINI factory. Doesn’t have to be a car-making robot, a Roomba or a Transformer toy will do, as long as it’s a robot.
- Tell a group of Germans, “You krauts are alright.”
- Hookers, hookers, monkey, hookers.
- Drive a MINI One Diesel; not be sorely disappointed.
- Meet some royalty.
- Claim to be descended from royalty.
- Get one of those quickie Amsterdam weddings, and a quickie Amsterdam divorce.
- Lightsaber fight with the Pope.
- Promote MacFags.com, your source for occasionally updated Mac stuff.
- Do the Moose Test by running directly at the nearest moose.
- Probably do a podcast or something.
Any other ideas?

Happy Birthday DB!
Posted on June 10, 2007I know I’m 24 minutes early, but this just cracks me up so I have to post it. Happy birthday DB! You have to watch the whole video though.
And Now, a Red Lobster That Won’t Ruin Your Dinner…
Posted on June 6, 2007I bartended for a wedding reception the other night. Six hosted kegs, sixty bottles of wine, kind of a big deal. Some lads walked up to the bar and wanted a shot, but didn’t know what. One thing to keep in mind, is that since I work at a country club, there isn’t a lot of options for making shots available to me. Not a lot of fruity, liqueur-y, schnapps-y things. I have to make do with what I can. Some quick thinking and that’s how I cam up with the “Red Lobster”. In a shot glass, pour:
- 1/2 ounce Pomegranete Liqueur (I used DeKuyper Pomegranete Liqueur)
- 1/2 ounce Cinammon Schnapps (I used Bols Red Stinger [No longer available. I guess the bottle is that old])
- 1/2 ounce Whiskey (I used Jack Daniels)
Just pour ‘em into a shot glass and give it a shake for the right color. Or, if you’re a fancy sort, pour ‘em (carefully) in the order given and they should layer (the Pomegranete might need to be mixed with a little sugar to get the schnapps to float in the middle). Enjoy!

The J. Anton Report for May 2007
Posted on June 4, 2007
May was yet another banner month for Me so let’s get started, shall we?
On May 2nd, I got insurance for the car. All that’s left is to get it registered and plated. It’s good to get that all taken care of. On May 5th, I took my little brother to buy his first guitar. While perusing the rows and rows of guitars, I spotted a relatively inexpensive 12-string guitar. Now, 12-strings are rarely cheap, so finding a good price on this one, there’s was no way I could pass it up. So I bought it.
A week later, on May 11th, made first car payment. $156.78 down, $4,843.22. I’m now a worldly man, knowing the sting of debts and loans and interest. On May 18th, I made a trip to the Henry Doorly Zoo. I wrassled a tapir, chased the monkeys, and fed a chupacabra. All in all, it was a good time. Pictures from the excursion can be seen over at Flickr.
Then there was May 21st… Ah May 21st. I redesigned jwiltshire.org, and I might even consider releasing the K2 style it’s built on. Then came the big thing. Site5, providers of amazing hosting, were running a deal. 110 Gb of storage, 5 Tb of bandwidth, and up to 110 domains for $5.00 a month. What a steal! So I signed up for one, since I have a few domains lying around. The first site I set up on the server Poseidon was Panzerwaffle.org, just a place to point around to the stuff I do on the web. I then set up a little photoblog, aperture.panzerwaffle, because I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for Pixelpost. And finally, after all the dns propogation stuff cleared up, I was able to set up Macfags.com, a domain that I waited almost a year and a half to get ownership of. I’ve got that going, and have even put up a post or two. Sweet life!
