the dew claw is easy to explain. Thousands of years ago when the aliens invaded earth they enslaved dogs. The aliens had many course meals with a large amount of specialized silverware. The dogs had to do the dishes. The detergents were very harsh and hurt the dogs paws, so they wore gloves. As anybody knows your nose will itch when you have dish gloves on. So they grew dew claws to get their nose scratching on.
