Final Fan Art Revue
Posted on May 29, 2007This is the last one for a while, so let’s make it a good one, shall we?

No, wait, here’s the artist’s rendition of Pam, capturing all of the unattractive qualities with none of the attractive qualities. Perhaps they are just a bad artist. Or they like painting with lumps. Who knows.

I knew, in my heart of hearts, that somewhere out there, somebody was wanting Mac and PC to hook up. My goal is to some day present this image to John Hodgman, to find out what he thinks of it.

Ah yes. Is there anything the internet can’t sexualize? Perhaps innocent Blue the dog from popular children’s show “Blues Clues”? Nope, here’s Blue with tits. Nicely done, internet.

I tried really really hard to find Law and Order: SVU fan art. My goal was a drawing of Richard Belzer and Ice-T shirtless and kissing. This is the “best” I was able to come up with, but I know, somewhere out there, it exists. It is the holy grail of Fan Art Revue.

I got this one from Deviant Art user “Egon Egle”, who is, apparently, a big fan of Egon Spengler from Ghostbusters. But not a big enough fan to draw Egon well. There is sketch after sketch of Egon, just like this one, on his DA page.

Finally, a chalk drawing of a very emo-looking droog, Alex from A Clockwork Orange. Impressive indeed.

News Hottie of the Week: Robin Meade
Posted on May 26, 2007
It’s always fun to present new News Hotties. This week’s news hottie comes to us from CNN’s Headline News: Robin Meade. Robin Meade is the lead news anchor for Headline News’ morning show, Robin & Company. Among other stories, Meade anchored the network’s coverage of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Before joining up with Ted Turner’s network, Meade worked at the NBC affiliate in Chicago. For them she covered the 1996 Olympics, and was nominated for a few regional Emmys, winning one. She has also been inducted into the Ohio Broadcasters Hall o’ Fame. Whoo. In a 2004 poll conducted by Playboy.com, she was voted “Sexiest Newscaster”, recieving over 16,000 votes, out of over 40,000 ballots cast.

Fan Art Revue - The Office UK
Posted on May 23, 2007I went across the pond for this week’s bunch of fan art. The American version of the Office just seems to generate bad photoshops of Jim and Pam together with bad song lyrics in pink text, so I thought I’d see what the Brentmeister General and gang were up to now that the BBC series is long over.

I’m not sure which image is least flattering to Office star Ricky Gervais. Is it…

David Brent with some sort of head enormizing disease, not unlike the affliction that caused Joseph Merrick to be known as the Elephant Man…

Or is it this one, which looks like a police sketch of a local schoolyard flasher that they would show on the news?

Finally, I don’t care what anyone says. If this were painted on black velvet, I would proudly hang it up in my living room.

Overheard
Posted on May 21, 2007Me: You see that people are using a bunch of AppleTVs to make an XGrid processing farm?
DB: Word? I haven’t. Wow
Me: Not really all that useful, but it’s good to know that you can do it.
DB: Sure sure.
Me: I’m calling it now.
Me: I give it six months… Someone is going to make an XGrid farm of iPhones.
DB: lol
Single of the Week: Beck and White Town
Posted on May 18, 2007The first single this week is from my favorite scientologist (why oh why did he have to be a scientologist…), Beck. “Sexx Laws” is off of the Midnite Vultures album, and while it came with a sort of ridiculous video, it’s a fast and funky track, mashing up dirty horns with bluegrassy banjos and twangy pedal steel guitars. Very interesting indeed.
The other, or “second”, single of this week is Jyoti Mishra, a.k.a. White Town, with “Your Woman“. Recorded almost entirely in Mishra’s bedroom on a Mac, the song is considered a one-hit wonder of the ’90s. The song is mostly driven by an electric piano and a sample of the trumpet from a 1932 jazz tune, “My Women” (my sources are unclear on whether it was Al Bowlly or Lew Stone that recorded the song). It’s a catchy little gender-bending ditty that makes me nostalgic for the days of middle school, sipping lemonade, chasing girls, and listening to The Edge, the no-longer existing local alternative rock station.

Fan Art Revue - Spiderman Edition
Posted on May 15, 2007At the request of DB, this week’s fanart is an all Spiderman edition. The problem with searching for fan art, is that a lot of it, while dorky that someone would spend hours doing this, are actually pretty good, if not repetitive. But worry not, I’ve searched out and found some gems for this week, despite possibly having had my account cancelled by Fanart-Central.com. Let’s dig in, shall we?

Here we see Spiderman post-Vietnam Conflict, having lost both legs due to one of Charlie’s goddamn mines, and having gained a lot of weight, possibly having shared far too many pies with down’s syndrome Venom. Alternatively: Weeble Spidey wobbles but he don’t fall down.

Spiderman is ready to recieve anal sex.

Mary Jane Parker fan art, I’m actually surprised I didn’t find more of missus Spidey. Actually she looks like one of those porn actresses that bears a passing resemblance to an actual famous person so they take a parody of their name, like Brittney Spairs or Kylie Ireland. She looks like the real MJ, but with weird lumpy breasts, too much make up, a botched lip job, and a vapid, distant, “I’m ready to recieve your seed” look in her eyes.

Someone, presumably one of the Fantastic Four (?) is about to perform oral sex on a nervous Spiderman.

Note to Self:
Posted on May 15, 2007Next time you see the girl of your dreams walking down the street with a Holga fisheye lens camera, looking really cute and taking pictures of things, make sure to not be blasting “What a Fool Believes” on your car stereo. It does not help your bad boy image.
Yes! Awesome!
Posted on May 12, 2007Shelby will hate me for this, because she so hated “House of Cosbys“, but the show is back, in some form, thanks to a new show on VH1, Acceptable TV. And I gotta say, this revival is awesome. House of Cosbys, about a man who was such a fan of Bill C. that he made many clones that ran amok, was a Channel 101 show that had to be taken down because Cosby’s lawyers sent a C&D, apparently having never heard of “parody”.
And to see the original “House of Cosbys”, Waxy.org has a list of mirrors.

Single of the Week: Collective Soul
Posted on May 10, 2007Taking you way back to songs I listened to back when I was in middle school, today’s SotW is “Shine“, off of Collective Soul’s Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid album. The verse guitar, a heavily syncopated riff reminiscent of the grunge style that was popular at the time. Really, Ross Childress’s guitar work all over this song is great. The only bad part is the mastering of the track. It’s a little muddier than it should be and I think with a better mixing job this song could really “shine”. Heh heh. I’m great.
