Single of the Week: Cansei de Ser Sexy and Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers (Longest. Post Title. Ever.)
Posted on October 28, 2006Is it bad that I’ve been drinking simply because there was nothing else to drink in the fridge?
Our first single is from the premier indie electropop from São Paulo, Cansei de Ser Sexy (Portuguese for “I Got Tired of Being Sexy” with Let’s Make Love to Death from Above, they’re uber-catchy semi-tribute to Death from Above 1979, who recently broke up. Bonus fact: CSS’s drummer/guitarist Luiza Sá shares my birthday.
Our second single comes from the fine gospel group, Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers, with “Come, Let Us Go Back to God“. It’s a stirring vocal piece that I grabbed after it was repeated many times in the Tom Hanks and Coen Brothers movie that bombed but was actually pretty good, The Lady Killers.
Finally, David Watanabe, creator of awesome Mac apps, released the newest version of Inquisitor for free, which sucks because I paid for it not too long ago. It was only like 5 bucks, but still. It’s the principle. What it does is add auto-complete and quicksearch to your browser’s searchbar. Oftentimes I don’t even have to go to Google’s search results, Inquisitor finds what I’m looking for for me. It’s awesome, so if you use Safari or Camino to browse the web, check it out.
