News Bionic Hottie of the Week
Posted on September 15, 2006
When I saw this on CNN this morning, it definitely made my day. (Well that and the fact that I bought a new camera, but more on that later.) Claudia Mitchell lost her left arm in a motorcycle accident in 2004. However, thanks to a new prosthetic arm developed by The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, together with DARPA, she has the second working bionic arm, the first belonging to an electrician who lost both arms. It connects to nodes connecting to nerve endings that detects impulses ordering movement, similar to the way the organic nervous system works. Fine motion is still clunky, but general use is there. And the best part? She’s actually kinda hot. Who’d a thunk it? An ex-marine with a robot arm a la T2 and she’s pretty good looking. Good on ya Claudia Mitchell. We at jwiltshire.org hope for the best for our hot new cybernetic overlords. Read more about the whole thing on Google News.
