On Pluto

Posted on September 1, 2006

Give it up. If scientists say it’s not a planet, it’s not an f’ing planet. Just ‘cuz you have some sentimental attachment to it, doesn’t make it true. Just ‘cuz a bunch of people decide that it should be a planet because they want it to, doesn’t make it a planet. Science-by-mob-rule doesn’t work. If we change the definition of a planet to include Pluto, then we add two more planets to our solar system, but the same people who want Pluto won’t be so welcoming to the addition. The same deal with creationism. Just because a bunch of people want it to be true, doesn’t make it so. So let it go. Pluto is a dirty hunk of rock in our solar system, and man didn’t evolve from Jesus 6,000 years ago. You don’t get to decide things just because you feel that way, science comes from actual measuring and testing. Everything else is just a whole heap of bullshit.
