Mmmm, ain’t nothin’ like indie rock interpretation of classic Americana/bluegrass. 16 Horsepower’s Heel on the Shovel. Every song is a strange backwoods fable, telling a twisted tale. This song in particular, with the opening line “I’m diggin’ you a shallow grave” and the chorus “Oh everyone will see/an’ everyone will know/boy you reap what you sow”, you know that someone done somethin’ wrong to get hisself buried. If you’re looking to explore the roots of country music in America, but in a modern context, this album is worth a look.
