Threadless.com Review
Posted on May 29, 2005Threadless.com is an online t-shirt store, but one that espouses the idea of “open source clothing”. Shirt ideas are submitted by users, voted on by users, and the chosen designs are eventually purchased by users. At present, they are running a sale, all shirts $10 (plus approx. $3 shipping) so I bought two: My Mom Likes Maiden and Who I Am (see below for pictures). Two t-shirts for $26 is a good price, especially when they’re as awesome as these.

I ordered on Monday, and recieved the shirts on Thursday. I was impressed by how fast they got here, too be honest. They arrived neatly folded and including two sets of Threadless stickers. The shirts themselves are of pretty good quality. They are “tagless”, in that the OMG Clothing tag is printed on the inside of the shirt, but it is obvious that at one point there was a manufacturer’s hangtag that got clipped (see picture). The printing on the shirts is rather nice, especially the detail on “Who I Am”. I haven’t washed the shirts yet, so I don’t know how the printing will hold up, but I’ve heard from other sources that it lasts much longer than Cafe Press’s “Two washes and it’s out” inks. The shirts are comfortable, and again, they look cool. However, an elderly Mexican woman did make fun of the Who I Am shirt, she said it looked like something was spilled all over my nice shirt. But I dig it, and that’s what matters.

New Robot Shuffle Music
Posted on May 28, 2005Robot Shuffle Music has a new release out, entitled “The Candlestick Maker of Seville”. It’s my oddest one yet, mostly due to the ending. The crazy synths at the end are actually drum beats, put through an organ synth instead of a drum synth. Which is why they sound crazy. I was trying to layer the actual beat under the synth but GB wouldn’t let me for some reason. It’s an .m4a link again, which means you’ll need iTunes.

Also, We’ve got a new page up of just Robot Shuffle Music, here. It’ll be available on the links page in a bit.

Hey Fuckface
Posted on May 19, 2005Just a quick warning, I’m working on pulling the archives from the old server and into the new. F’ing databases won’t work proper, so I have to copy manually reformat and repost. None of the old comments will be there because of the database issues, so please feel free to repost your past comments. Robot Shuffle will look wonky occasionally; if it does, that’s because I’m working on the archives, and it’ll return to its normal non-wonkiness later.

Ack!
Posted on May 13, 2005We had a torrential rainfall this afternoon. Streets flooded, avenues close, the whole bit. While in the basement bathroom showering, I noticed water coming from the spot where our wall meets the ground. Right near the ginormous stress crack that runs the whole height of the wall. Crap. I did my best to clean it up, and then went off to work. Shelby called the landlord, who sent in the repairman, who examined the wall. Apparently, the part where the wall meets the floor, isn’t supposed to have an overhang. I thought it was. And water is filling into the wall, welling up in the hollows of the cinder block, and floods. The south wall of the house is off of its base by about an inch and a half. No bueno. The handyman says that all we can do is clean out the gutters to keep the water from flooding down the side of the house, but the only way to really fix it involves demolishing half of the house. Shelby and I agreed not to still be living here in a year.

Diagram 1a. Area where water leaks out. Notice the difference in space between the wall and the floor, as noted by the red arrows.

Diagram 1b. A close up of the overhang of the wall.

Last Night
Posted on May 8, 2005Shelby and I were watching a documentary about the modern Ku Klux Klan. The current leader wants the Klan to reform somewhat, to stop saying “nigger” and “kike” so much, because it scares off potential converts. He was giving a speech at one point in the film, and after explaining to everyone not to say anything derrogatory, in the middle of his speech he loses self control and exclaims “faggotslime”. Guess which part of his speech made it on to the news that night. The documentary was narrated by a timid British fellow, and I thought it a bit odd because in the name of political correctness he kept saying “Klanspeople”. At some point, another Klansperson was giving a speech on how the blacks and the jews are joining powers to take over the government. Which led to me and Shelby putting our magic rings together and shouting “Nigger and Jew powers ACTIVATE! Shape of: a nigger bucket! Form of: a Jew cloud!”
