The Origins of Napping
Posted on November 16, 2004At work today, we were talking about taking naps. Kyle said he couldn’t power nap, that he needed 20 minutes just to fall asleep. So Anna told him, “Kyle you should masturbate before you take a nap.” This gave me the funny image of Kyle sitting on the living room couch, masturbating, when his roommates walk in… “Kyle, what the hell are you doing?” “I’m taking a nap!”
The conversation continued along these lines for awhile… By the time we stopped laughing, Dean (our manager) came down to talk to us a few minutes. I ask, completely straight-faced, “Dean, do you like to take naps?” Anna starts to giggle… “Oh yeah!” Kyle bursts out in laughter “I don’t get it very much, so I like to take a nap every chance i get!” We’re all laughing so hard, tears are rolling down our eyes. So of course, taking a nap became the joke of the day…
