I Have all these Airport Feelings
Posted on January 6, 2003Yea I know, it’s been awhile since I’ve posted. That’s why I’m here to bring you cheer.
It’s only three days away from my departing wintry cold Nebraska (windchills of -20 degrees today!), and of course, I’m nervous as hell. I’ve never flown before (except for that time that I traveled the world in a hot-air balloon, but that hardly counts, does it?), and so even the process of checking in and boarding will be nerve-wracking. I’ll be sure to pay extra special attention when they explain how to buckle the seatbelts.
It doesn’t help matters that, for the past two nites in a row, I’ve dreamt about plane crashes. The scariest one was last nite’s dream. I’m standing in the middle of a field, when all of a sudden a plane falls from the sky, soaring about thirty feet above my head and crashing into the earth not more than a football field lenght away. The thing was, it wasn’t so much frightening as it was exhilarating. Beauty in destruction, as it were. Anybody care to interpret that dream?
I wasn’t going to fly on the plane, but I won the coin flip with Waylon Jennings…
I promise I’ll write more later, but I gotta go for now…
